Madeira Walk with Vera
Dear Holiday Property Bond guests, Vera and the VEREDAS DO SOL Team would like to present you our winter walking programm. HPB Madeira has already had many return guests of whom we have had the pleasure of walking with since day one. Therefore a change was requested by our guests. A few favourites were kept. should you choose from any of our six walks, you shall be pleasantly surprised. Off the beaten track, not in your guide books and even those guests who think they have seen it all, we shall prove otherwise.

MONDAY: BOCA DO CORRIDA TO ENCUMEADA
Discover the original and the oldest trading route, connecting the north and south coast, on the island. This mountain path offers spectacular views into Nuns Valley and to the highest peaks.
A path which changes in character all the way throughout.

WEDNESDAY: PONTA DELGADA-NORTH COASTAL PATH
Experience and discover how the Madeirans use to cross their beautiful island. This old coastal path brings us into the heart of how Madeira once was. Spectacular views across the Atlantic, glimpses into the valleys , and unspoilt villages on the dramatic north coast. Follow the footsteps of time on this wonderful walk.

THURSDAY: THE LAUREL FOREST
This is a walk not to be missed. Experience Madeiras endemic flora at its best. The route to the forest is not only a spectacular Walk, it is a journey in time. Starting from our modern age, to levadas, to terraced fields and then the laurel forest itself.
Once we have made our ascent and in the forest, the path becomes undulating. Fern Trees that grow upto15-18 feet in height and 500 year
Old laurel trees make for a superb scenery. After the walk, we´ll stop in one of Madeiras oldest Pass-restaurants. Espetada at its best.

FRIDAY: THE FOUNTAINS AND LAKES
Our walk leads us along several of the levadas below the Paul da Serra(1500M). The valley below is called Ribeira da Janela. Waterfalls and natural springs from all sides prove Madeiras abundance of water. It is arregion thick and lush with endemic flora (billberry and Erika).
Discover a wonderfully intact environment. After our walk, we´ll drive down to Calheta beach and visit the the Sugar Factory.

SATURDAY: NUNS VALLEY TO PICO RUIVO
Have you ever wondered how the locals use to get from Nuns Valley to Santana? In the olden days, a very important connection to the north coast. The first part of this walk is the old and original foot path upto Torrinhas Pass. From here, always ascending, we make our way to the islands highest Peak 1862m Pico Ruivo do Santana. The breathtaking views are the reward for this strenuous path.

SUNDAY: COUNTRY LIFE
Our journey starts with a drive eastwards to the north coast of the Madeira. This side of the island will open our eyes to the long agricultural history as well the history of the locals. A favourite amongst nature lovers and gardeners. We will pass the very well known Eagles Rock and stop in Porto da Cruz where you´ll have pleanty of time for lunch, walk by the sea, lie in the sun or simply relax. Afterwards, we will visit the most popular farmers market on the island in Santo da Serra. Here, first hand, you will be able to see where the locals meet, shop for Sunday dinner and chat. This is the real Madeira.

book and noncircular.
Madeira has changed over the years. We choose to show you places where time

GENERAL INFORMATION:
- NO SANDALS (INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER YOU). Closed shoes
with a rubber sole and good grip are sufficient for the easy Sunday
walk. On the other walks, please good trainers or walking shoes
/boots
- FULL DAY WALKS : no meals included. On all of our walks we stop
for lunch except on Saturday and Monday. Please bring a picknick
along. On all of the walks, please sufficient water, and a snack
(fruit, cerial bar, etc.).
- DEPARTURE: 09:15 from the reception / RETURN CA. 17:00
- CLOTHING: Water proofs, sweaters, gloves, walking poles, spare
clothing if required and swim suit (Friday). Expect all seasons
in a day.
- GROUP SIZE: Is limited to 16 Pax. Per group.
- RESERVATIONS :May be made through New Market -Travel or on Madeira.
